Tarzan's Magic Fountain (1949) - Lee Sholem
Tarzan brings a missing female pilot out of the jungle to help clear a wrongly imprisoned man. She hasn't aged a day since crashing twenty years previously, which makes Jane and the rest of the cast a little suspicious. However, after the successful release of the prisoner, she ages rapidly - and wants to head back to the secret jungle hideaway where she can enjoy eternal youth. Only Tarzan doesn't want to help this time. Jane has other ideas, and so do a couple of greedy fortune hunters...
Lex Barker takes over the role from Johnny Weissmuller, and the results are seemless. Probably my favourite Tarzan film; every scene is memorable. Brenda Joyce continues her role as Jane from the previous adventures, which helps the continuity, but she made this her last. Barker made five films, and each one had a different actress palying Jane. Alan Napier, later Alfred the butler in the 1960's Batman tv series, plays the wrongly imprisoned chap.
Watch out for a blink-and-you'll-miss-him cameo by the great Elmo Lincoln, the first actor to play Tarzan in 1918. He plays a fisherman at the jungle outpost. Here are the two Tarzans in a publicity shot taken on the set....
