Palle Kjærulff-Schmidt - Weekend (1962)
Three dissatisfied and dysfunctional couples in their thirties spend a weekend together in a summer cottage. A drunkard called Lars is brought along by one of the couples. At the cottage Lars provokes the others and urges them to try something new. They then go on a binge, fuck, provoke various authority figures, and wrestle with the consequences and implications of their new-found liberty. Their libertine games continue until their dark inner human core is released.
'Weekend' was one of the first Danish movies to be inspired by the French New Wave. It was pretty controversial at the time of it's release.
